A triple fashion crime

Not that long ago double denim was a fashion crime.  No one but no one, dared to put a denim top with a denim bottom.  Then last year it suddenly became a little bit cool, one saw it on a few cool kids here and there.  Albeit the shapes and colours were a little different.  The denim jeans were either wide-leg, flared or skinny; not straight, a silhouette which seems firmly stuck in the daggy category.  And denim or chambray tops of all shades of almost-faded-to-white through to full-indigo started being a cool option to pop on the top, and with the denim bottoms!!  It was like, whoa! hold the phone! what’s going on?!   Has no one noticed the double denim happening here??!!
As it turned out, all hell didn’t break loose, and the earth didn’t stop in its tracks.  Life went on.
The double denim didn’t look so hideous as it had in our bad old 80’s memories.  It actually looked kind of fresh and interesting.  I liked it.
So it seems double denim is actually OK again…
So today I gave it a whirl.  Yeeks!  But for good measure I didn’t just go with the double denim, a half-baked option if I ever saw one, no? but pulled out the stops and went for the triple denim!
Just waiting for the fashion police to call, now…

  1. True puppy love. I am sure she approves of all your outfits.
Your layered denim looks very cool to me, but the fashion police have given up on me, so take that with several grains of salt.

  2. I think your triple denim is great. You know I read some time ago that double denim was making a come back but I haven't been brave enough to go there again. I think it scarred me to much the first time around. LOL

Your loved one is so cute. I just love the way he is looking at you. What breed is he?

  3. You're such a rebel, Carolyn. You and your triple denim :). I like chambray so much. And what a cute loved one! That is definitely a look of love.

  4. Muahahah!

    I think you've discovered the real secret…

There are no fashion police! (well, except in our heads and possibly our nosy neighbours)

That is a look of absolute love. I'm going to have to wait until the kids get home today to get a loved-one pic, I think.

  5. I believe you just *may* have superpowers! I've never been a fan of the "Texas Tuxedo" look, and am maybe more than a little scarred from the "Hatey Eighties" but you are fully OWNING this.

Love the pic with the poochini. She sure is a love. 🙂

Also, I heard the fashion police were on a donut run when you took this pic. Niiiiice!

  6. Laughing at Tanit-Isis' comment that there ARE no fashion police! Only in the sidelong glances we get from people. And then it's a matter of how we interpret those!

Thanks for your thoughts on the twisted top, too.

  7. It's so true, it's funny how something can go from totally uncool to completely in. I remember when I thought skinny jeans were the ugliest things! Little did I know I would be wearing them daily the following year. 🙂
My bet is you won't be hearing from the fashion police anytime soon though because you look hott! 🙂 You're making me want to try and pull of the triple denim look.

  8. Double denim – I've never recovered from my 1970s matching jeans and denim jacket. I don't think I can make the comeback.

  9. There aren't any fashion police in Darwin, so I could have No Taste, but I do like that look. You can't actually HAVE to much blue, I feel.

Your doggy's nose has a terracotta spot on it. How adorable!

We got a kitten from the RSPCA once, and the vet who gave him his shots was like "Oh look! His nose is a True Terracotta!" It was obviously something very special!
I have noticed terracotta noses ever since 😀
