Posing with water

Self-stitched September, Day 14:
Today’s photo challenge, to pose with water.  Hehe.  Oh you can be sure I put in my vote for that one myself too…
I think I voted for “water” because it would be a good excuse to get out and do this very activity I am doing here.
Well, any excuse is a goodie, right?  There’s nothing like a walk along the beach beach to lift the spirits.  Yah, so I walk along the river beach every day, but the ocean beach is just something else; so invigorating.  Feeds the soul.  Truly…   So for today, the Indian Ocean.

Details:
Dress; Vogue 1152 with minor modifications and without the sleeve cuffs, made of cotton chambray, details and my review of this pattern here (I did finish the dress with the sleeve cuffs here, but took them off pretty pronto.  They were just not me)
Black scarf; of soft black net, an ex-lining cut into strips and knotted together, details here
Blue scarf; a refashioned tank top, details and a tute here
Sandals; Micam by Joanne Mercer, from Hobbs shoes

  1. You know, you are just so utterly gorgeous, I can hardly stand it. The setting, the model, her clothing. It's all to die for.

  2. I really like this dress and was hoping you would give it an airing this month. And a barefoot walk on the beach in some warm (but not) sunshine sounds fabulous. And the ocean looks beautiful.

I'm home with a sick little one today so not sure if I'll make a post today or not. Poor little guy.

  3. Your dress blends with the sea perfectly. What a summery setting….I can't wait for beach season! Unfortunately I live 1/2 hour drive from the sea so it tends to be a day/afternoon out or wait until our annual camping trip to the beach.

  4. That dress is BEAUTIFUL! And so pretty with your coloring, just magical, really….of course, the crashing waves and golden sand don't hurt!

  5. I'm so, so envious. I grew up in a city by the ocean (the Indian ocean as well, but on the other side of the world.) There's something about the sound of the waves, and the smell of the ocean – nothing really does compare.

    And that's a lovely dress!

  6. Gorgeous dress! The sleeves are brilliant. Aren't you cold? I was freezing yesterday. I wish it would hurry up and get warmer. I am totally out of warmish clothes for SSS and my summer wardrobe is waiting for an airing.

  7. Lovely – both the dress and the sea. My 20 cents worth about the previous skirt is that if you have lots of other skirts you love then perhaps donate it . I also LOVE your burnt organge skirt – you seem to suit all colours and actually I only recently noticed you are a red head – I am married to a red head and my mother has red hair but we have no red headed children !

  8. What a lovely photo of you.
I bought this pattern because of your gorgeous versions of the dress. You are such a good advocate of many beautiful and different variations of the same pattern. Clever!

  9. Your dress and pose are absolutely lovely! What a great job and fabric choice. We would love to use your photo and a link to your blog on our Facebook Page: Fb.voguepatterns.com.
