tea infusers

This post is apropos of nothing handmade at all really, but these tea infusers are such a cute and relatively newish thing in my/our lives that I just wanted to share…

When it comes to imbibing; tea is my number one choice.  I used to have it listed along with some other of my favourite things in the “about me” blurb up here on the ol’ bloggeroonie, when I eventually decided to change that to something that better described what my blog is actually about… but tea is a huge part of my daily routine.  I won’t even drink any other kind of hot drink at all, that’s how boring dedicated I am!
Oh OK then; I make an exception for Melbournian Koko Black hot choccie… but that’s a kinda special, going away on holiday treat!

Cassie likes tea too, so much that she is known for it amongst her friends and these adorable little tea infusers have all been given to her for birthday pressies.  I’m allowed to use them sometimes too  πŸ˜‰  and think they are so sweet I amused my tiny mind by taking a few pictures.

Each occasion I have met up with other sewing ladies who blog, have been marked by the consumption of tea; I enjoyed an interesting, delicious and unusual herbal fruity tea with Donna in Paris and was treated to a perfectly wonderful, traditional Japanese green tea with Yoshimi and Novita in Tokyo.  That was a completely new experience for me, and how I wish I could repeat it… in fact how much I wish I could go back and meet up with all those ladies again!
Just for comparison; this last one is “my” tea infuser, the everyday one I use by default.  Not quite so cute, huh?  Well, as long as it gets the job done!  Random fact; the tea in this last picture is what I am sipping right this very second…

  1. Oh my goodness, those tea strainers are adorable! I'm a huge tea drinker myself, but I tend to use tea bags. I want loose leaf tea and a cute tea strainer now!

  2. I love the rubber duck. I might just have to get an interesting tea strainer to brighten my day at work!

  3. I've never seen anything like these before! How cute – thanks for sharing a little something to brighten everyone's day πŸ™‚

  4. It never fails to amaze me how creative people are – who would have thought a tea strainer could look like a little grey man with a "porous" bottom half! Thanks for making me smile this morning – we are just having our first cold snap of winter, and I am sipping a cup of rooibos tea as I read your blog.

  5. On an entirely tea-geek note, I always thought that the (ridiculously attractive) things shown here are tea infusers, and a tea strainer is a little metal sieve that you use when pouring leaf tea from a pot, to stop the leaves going in to the cup. I'm British, so maybe this is a British/Australian language terms thing. Either way, the rubber duck is my favourite.

    • Kate: you're absolutely right πŸ™‚ The funny thing is, I did have a niggling voice in the back of my head telling me something was not right too… I've corrected it all now.

  6. I want!!!

I too am a tea lover – must be the pom in me.

So much so that I collect tea pots and paid an outrageous sum for tea, sandwiches and cakes at the Ritz High Tea in London.

    I have tea strainer envy.

  7. These are adorable. I've never seen anything like them. I am probably not looking hard enough!
I drink my tea loose too. I think it tastes better. All in my mind? Maybe, but it makes me happy.
I just have a gadget that sits on top of my cup and strains out the leaves. Works great, but it's not witty!

  8. A girl after my own heart, and your cuppa looks very welcoming. Even in our hottest temperatures I love my cuppa. May I ask the company that makes them, probably wont be able to get one in the UK. Love the figure looks like it's in a hot tub,

  9. I have never seen anything like these before and yes they are really cute. Afraid I just use the old teabag

  10. Adorable! Love the little duck and the dummy just sitting there as it is on a pool side. Tea drinker too…though sometimes I need a good caffeine kick!

  11. These are absolutely adorable! Yes I remember we visited the Japanese tea room and that was so much fun. I too wish to meet up with you over some delicious tea again, I think we need to organize some day!

  12. I need that rubber duckie one…Very cute!

  13. These are amazing! I love the man at the side of the cup… so funny!

  14. what?? I need those…

  15. Oh these are such fun. I have got to have the lazy man… I'll be on the hunt for these tomorrow!

  16. The man in the bathtub is my favorite Carolyn…it makes drinking tea quite enjoyable πŸ™‚ m.

  17. These are the cutest thing ever, and thank you so much for posting links on where to find them! Off to Amazon.com ………..

  18. I have the duck one! My fiance bought it for me when we were in this cute little shop down in Washington DC a few months into dating. I'm also very much into tea, so much that the girls did a tea party theme for my bridal shower this past weekend. And I did receive two more cute tea infusers as well–I ended up taking a pic of them on Instagram while my fiance and I were putting things away in the kitchen at his house. http://instagram.com/p/XyLbIWF-rV/

  19. I am also a tea lover. You have quite the cute collection of infusers!

  20. I am a diehard tea drinker and that's leftover from my year in Oz! I can still remember my roomie making me my first cuppa (and explaining what that word meant!). I'm actually sitting here right now drinking some chai and hoping the anise stimulates uterine contractions…. bwahahaha! No luck so far.

  21. I have a tea problem as well. I have about 20 tins of various kinds on my counter at all times. Unrelated, but I wanted to email you about something and couldn't find your contact info anywhere. Do you mind providing me with your email address?

  22. Those are adorable. I have never seen anything so cute for making Tea here in the US – and I stop at every Tea store I find. Just visited one in Wichita, Kansas, even though I spent less than two hours in Kansas. (And one of those hours was in that Tea store.) Was it one of the delicious Mariage FrΓ¨res teas that you had in Paris?

  23. Pretty cup! We do a lot of tea here too but also coffee. Our teas are mainly herbal but we don't have such cute tea infusers.

  24. Those are so cute – I just wished I liked tea (I am British born and bred and I can't stand black tea . . . . Don't tell anyone though!)

The china cup and saucer is lovely. I enjoy picking up mismatched china at auction

  25. Love these and that T-Bird infuser is gorgeous.

  26. These are cute – I had no idea such things were out there! I'm bookmarking this for a gift idea come December! Need to get back into the tea habit. Coffee just seems more comforting to me somehow, but herbal teas are much better calorie-wise (not that sweeteners and skimmed milk are so calorific, but it does add up…). Thanks for sharing!

  27. Ack! These are adorable!!
I have the bottom one, and it's so boring compared to all those lovely tea-steeping creatures.

  28. The duck floating in the cup made me laugh – I love it! I am a big fan of tea myself although not to the exclusion of all other hot drinks.

  29. πŸ˜€ I love them, they are all so cude! I want them all!

  30. I have one like yours, the last one. Though I love the little man just chillin' in the rim of the mug…. that's AWESOME!
