Hello, from the both of us.
I wanted to wear this little white linen top but none of my skirts felt very inspiring so I randomly threw it on over this dress. And discovered that the lower band of the top is close to exactly the same circumference as the dress at this point; meaning that when I am wearing them together like I am here, it appears not like two separate items but like a complete dress in itself.
It’s like I’ve discovered a whole new item of clothing in my wardrobe!!
Score!
min 13C, max 24C, sunny
I am the only one in my family wearing clothes made by me today
Details:
Top; the bamboo shoot top, self-drafted, white linen, the front is the bamboo shoot design from Pattern Magic by Tomoko Nakamichi, details here
Dress; based on Burda 8511, aqua linen with orange silk wave-y welted pockets, details here
Shoes; Bensimon, from seed

You have such a great collection that you will always have a new combo to amaze us with.
This looks so cute – I am so impressed by your self-drafting, I just lack confidence to do this. Sienna always poses so beautifully, she never fails to make me smile!
I reckon this looks great. Love the new version of the dress π
I love this dress and it looks so different with the top over it, it really does look like a whole new dress π Where do you purchase your linen as I'd really like to get some?
(Can't believe you're still getting such good weather)
Shelly; I nearly always buy my fabric including linen in a real store like Fabulous Fabrics, Spotlight, and when in the eastern states, the Fabric Store, but it so happens that both of those particular linens came from fabrics-store.com π
Great combo!
looks like they were made to go together! great outfit.
Yep, that's one of my favourite tops…and the pockets!
Carolyn, I have come to the conclusion that the luckiest ladies in terms of fashion are the tall willowy ones, with killer legs! You so fit into that category!
Love the white linen top!
oh, the rick rack dress! How funny that we all recognize pieces from one another's wardrobes. Nice score on making a whole new outfit.
I love the simplicity of your wardrobe, Carolyn.
What a happy accident having the two pieces line up perfectly. I love the restraint you showed in only putting the wavy trim on those pockets, which makes it work as a skirt too.
nice outfit
Cute! The two pieces do look like they go together. I know it's been said over and over, but your dog is so cute and happy – makes my day!
I like how the ric-rac echoes the bamboo zig-zag.
What a nice (and wardrobe-expanding) discovery!
Don't you just love it when you make a discovery like that? Love the casual vibe of this outfit.
Great outfit – love those pockets.
Great outfit and great picture. Both you and Sienna looks happy (I think that technically that she is always wearing me-made stuff, with her natural fur coat).
Rose
Hi Carolyn, I love the way your pets all have reddish hair as well. I'm here today not to comment on your outfit today (although of course I love all your me made outfits so far) but to answer your questionon my blog. I could get you a swatch – I'm not currently running a business and I am am certainly not "touting" for it via my blog (not really what a personal blog is for) but I would love to help if I can. I do still have a trade account, and I need to check prices. Also, I am not sure what style of swatch you would want – I'm familiar with the format of some of the 80's swatch cards. You could get one from someone on the internet, but some colour/image consultants use different systems (flow/tonal) – but as I explained on my blog, they all boil down to much the same principles – you are a very clear cut warm, autumn (absolutely lovely colouring and hair). Let me know if you need any help, on my blog or email stylishsarah251@gmail.com
Interesting pockets!
Again, love your blog! Many times I've gone through your old posts for inspiration and education. I have one question (ok, many, but for now…) do you buy those little lingerie straps/holders to make sure that bra straps stay tucked within shirts? They look purchased, but then your skills are so honed that perhaps you made them? I've tried to find them without success so for….
ItΒ΄s true!! Looks like they were made to go together! Love the top!!!!!
Carolyn, I add my name to everyone saying you have a great wardrobe, lovely legs, terrific style, and gorgeous red-headedness even in your pets. Every time you post a photo of your clothes I am blown away by the simple elegance and creativity in your sewing. Thank you. (And I love the paper dolls project as well as the daily Me Made photos: not boring at all.)
thank you! π
Carolyn, thanks for posting about this dress again…it reminded me I never made those cute pockets I really wanted to make. They are so cool!
