My purple flares have been such favourites ever since they rolled off the sewing machine; an unlikely wardrobe staple. Who would’ve thunk purple jeans would turn out to be such useful things in my life?? Ask the ignorant old-me back then and she probably would have been doubtful… anyhow they have been and I’m rewarding them with a little retrospective.
I made them originally in 2011 using Burda 7863, and in addition to these outfits here they have appeared in a supporting role in several other of my 6 different ways posts too. A few of the following pics are from previous me-made months, some not…
Below, at left; worn with a rusty corduroy tunic top. Boy that top was gorgeously toasty warm. I need another one before next winter; at right; worn with a little self-scarfed top and my brindle knitted cardigan.
you are good at mix and matching. I must try this out and see if I have one piece in my wardrobe that works as well as the purple jeans. I love it with the simple white t shirt.
Your purple jeans look great with everything. That makes me reconsider all that I thought true about neutral colours and how to mix them. I have too many grey things!

Purple can serve as such a great neutral. I accidentally bought way too much of this grayish purple corduroy several years ago and have gone through two pencil skirts out of that fabric already! I have just enough left for a pair of pants that I'm sure will be as well-loved as yours are (if I can get my fit as good, anyway)!
I would never have thought purple would coordinate with so many colors, especially rust…and it does…it's downright pretty! Can't wait to see what color you make next!!!

I love those jeans and I love them on you! The different colours in the photos is striking, but I'm assuming this is the age of the jeans and varying sunlight. I wear purple a lot – I did as a redhead and I still do as a blonde. I can see how it could become a 'neutral'! Also love the high rise, as Stephanie said. Am going to have to add this pattern to my wishlist!

You know, you've managed to single-bloggedly convince me that I now need to make not a pair of Hepburn inspired trousers, but a pair of jeans…which I haven't attempted since the year 2000. Those ones were out of hot pink dressing-gown "brocade" that I picked up from an op shop. At hit at Livid, but not so great around the seam-region. That stuff just falls apart! It must be possible to get something totally brilliant and re-run.
I have a jeans pattern waiting to be made but I have not gathered eonugh courage to start. Yours look great! Love that you share outfit options too. Remixing is so important to wearing what we make. thanks!
