Green pleats, please!

Hello!  🙂
So
what’s new here?  Just a colour,
really.  My Issey Miyake pleated top (vogue 1142) used
to be a cheerful daffodil yellow, and now it is a murky-lurky, swampy, toxic-waste shade of
green.  Definitely far more me  😉  Hoorah for dye!
Cassie was doing a wardrobe reno: an apricot cardi
plus some black dye equals a new chocolate cardigan! and asked if I wanted the
used black dye-bath for anything before she chucked it out.  I barely gave it ten seconds of thought, just
grabbed this top.  It’s not that I can’t
bear to waste a teeny bit of dye that might still have some oomph in it.. oh well,
yes, maybe there’s that too.  But I
really liked the top and wanted to get it into circulation more.  Yellow is one of “my colours”, but the
brightness was just not working with many bottoms… and furthermore since
I’ve planned a very subdued autumn/winter wardrobe for myself then the bright yellow
top would just continue to not work.  And
on a psychological note, not that I’m overthinking this or anything!  but I think maybe brights are just too daring
for my personality?  I’m a bit of a mouse and perhaps bright yellow should just
be limited to infrequent miniscule doses in my life.
Ha! I reckon I’ve officially just overthought the
whole thing, which is hilarious considering that I didn’t think at all before
plunging the top into that dye-bath!  Lol!

Anyway, now the main thing is that now it’s going to
go quite well with the ivories, browns and greens of my swap.

  1. Both colors look great on you! And such a pretty blouse deserves to be in heavy circulation. Looks great with your pocket skirt. Have a great week!

  2. Carolyn, you look lovely in both colours 🙂 But I know just what you mean about the whole personality thing. I have some bright red wool in my stash. It's for the day I am advanced enough to sew an autumn/winter jacket. It's second hand, so I couldn't pass it by…but every time I look at it, I wish it was bottle green!

  3. I like both colours on you – good on your for dyeing…not everyone things of that. I know I've given away fabrics in my stash because of colour and I *never* even thought of dyeing them!

  4. Love the new colour but I also loved the yellow. Interesting I would have said that I am also a shy person, but love wearing my yellow not sure what that means!

  5. You are right, yellow is one of your colours, it does suit you beautifully. That said, that 'toxic waste' green and your beautiful hair is a combination that melts my heart. I so love green; sadly that affection in unrequited. I've never given a fig for yellow so I don't care that I can't wear it. As to 'over-thinking' I'm inclined to 'think' a lot as well. I do believe, however, that give the cost of fabrics and the amount of time and effort you put into making your clothing, such projects deserve a fair amount of consideration. So, I don't think you 'over-think' things. It is just that background preparation that allows you to jump at an opportunity like that leftover dye with a fair amount of confidence. Either that or you're just plain crackers, which I won't rule out. 🙂 I could look at your hair and that green blouse all day long…

  6. I think both colors look great, and I am endlessly fascinated by the power of color to so totally transform. Now you've got me thinking of a certain under-worn garment of my own that I could throw in a dye bath…

  7. I'm just making myself a top in this shade and I'm generously calling it "sage green" definitely not "toxic-waste shade of green"! I also dyed the fabric myself.

  8. I'm loving the reincarnated top – murky dark greens like this are a particular favourite of mine too so I definitely prefer it in this shade! It looks fabulous tucked in too – I adore the lines on this top but had all but written it off for being shapeless through the midsection (I feel lost without waist definition) – no longer after seeing it with one of my favourite skirts of yours 🙂

  9. I like both colours a lot… I´m thinking about the dyeing business: So you put your yellow top into black dye and you get that shade of green?? I would think it will go black. I have to reflect about this 🙂
