Dressing for the office…

… I know.  I am lucky, huh?  Working from home is such a freeing experience, dress-code wise.   And everything-else wise.
I used to be an analytical chemist, and sometimes I really miss the camaraderie of the laboratory and wish I was back there with my instruments.  I enjoyed the rigidity of the procedures, the precision that was required and the controlled environment.  But on days like today when I can rush out to the clothesline to rescue a load of dry washing just as the first fat raindrops fall, when I can nip out with the doggie while the sun is shining and save my office work for when the clouds roll in, the fact that I can choose; I’m content with the autonomy of my schedule.
I love the sound of the rain on the roof, and keep popping over the the window to check it out.  Watching those rain drops soaking into the soil, imagining our garden as a little community of plants, alive and drinking and growing and rejoicing together at the rain just like we are.
Possibly I won’t be so enamoured of the rain in a few months, but for now, it’s wonderful!

  1. I work from home too. I love client meetings so I have a chance to wear my clothes.

  2. Yes, I work AT home too…. and from home. And in the home. 😉
Love the sound of rain too. And those purple jeans of yours.

  3. Nice outfit today 🙂

  4. Do you do chemistry stuff from home? Or something all together different now?

  5. I would love to work from home for all the reasons you describe. Are you still in the same field or doing something much more mundane now like typing or bookkeeping?

    Love your outfit especially the
    purple jeans.

  6. I am SO working towards having the kind of flexibility you have !!!

  7. You make your working situation sound great. Another fab outfit. I like the way you say you "winged it" with the cardigan – it looks very good. Your dog looks happy paddling! Thank you for your nice comments you left me. The repeat offender cat in the bathroom made me giggle. Glad it has stopped now.

  8. The way a great number of people dress for work around here – you'd fit right in with that outfit. Actually – you look much, much better than the majority.
    Great outfit!

  9. Constantly inspired by your prolific output of fabulous clothes.
    thanks
    Linda

  10. I love those purple jeans! I'd love to figure out how to work from home one day. Although, I can't complain too much since I do have summers off.

  11. Oh how I would love to work from home!!! And can I say those jeans are the bomb!! I have never tried jeans before. You have inspired me!

    Blessings

  12. What kind of work do you do from home?

I worked from home for twenty years. What I'm doing now – working in a fabric store – is vastly different and a no-brainer. Even so, I'm enjoying getting dressed up and getting out. I'd developed too huge of a case of cabin fever.

Of course I didn't dress as beautifully as you do for at home. I keep thinking I'd like to hop a plane and come have you dress me – LOL.

  13. Amen on the flexibility of working at home.

I love the top with the cardigan; the top has such interesting movement, and the cardigan just looks warm and comfy, it seems like a good combo.

  14. oh, lovely yet again.

I don't miss being at school from 6:30AM to 8:30PM every night. And driving the bus to meets all over on Saturdays!

Rain would sound lovely here too … I just dashed out to get my laundry off the line not because of rain but so that it won't get too faded by direct sunlight…. my line is under the tree and by afternoon it will be strong texas sun and 100 degrees …

I love white tops. In need of a few more here too. Though hubby always wonders why as I have white tops already. Why do you need ANOTHER, he asks. Get something in a brighter color … 🙂

  15. the purple jeans are wonderful. I have a friend who was a pharmaceutical chemist. She quit several years ago, after a successful career, and I daresay, she has not missed the long (sometimes 16 hour) batch days. She's retrained to become a graphic artist.

  16. Thank you all for your comments! I was not a pharmaceutical chemist, but an analytical chemist. And I do not work in chemistry any longer, which is a pity because it would was interesting to me, but in management of my husband's practise.
