Me-Made June; Day 14
Another wild windy day. And lots of lovely dam-filling, garden-watering rain overnight. The evidence was there in lots of large puddles dotted about. 🙂
The river had burst its banks. Don’t see that everyday… :O
I’m taking Sam out to lunch today. 🙂
And I plan to buy a new umbrella since mine flew inside out as soon as I left the house this morning… and several of the little spokes have bent irretrievably out of whack. 🙁
I often wish the frames of umbrellas were so super sturdy that they lasted for years and years, and that one could seasonally recover the frame with the fabric of a colour and design of one’s choice. How nice would that be? 😀
And am planning and sewing another birthday surprise 😉

Your comments re the umbrella. … a few months ago I saw an article in either Stitches (pretty sure not this one) or Threads (sure it is this one) about covering an umbrella. It was great and seemed easy to do especially someone of your sewing standing. A nice decent, sturdy umbrella of old from the thrift shop and a new umbrella and lots of work could be yours!
Or you could pop down the shops and get one in two minutes!

Half way around the world and I think you have the same weather as me! except mine isn't so welcome because it's supposed to be summer here. But even when it's windy, you always look put together 🙂

I've had the 44" compact one for over 15 years. It flips inside out when the gust get too strong, but it flips back out and hasn't ever broken. You know how crazy the weather gets here in the PNW. A good umbrella is SO necessary!

I agree with the umbrella comment. I bought one at the Gold Coast markets as the rain was coming down in sheets and it didn't even last the length of time it took me to walk around the markets…grr!
Winter in New Zealands shakey city (Christchurch) has been unseasonably warm thus far as well. My daughter and I just walked the dog around the park in shorts and tees…go figure!
