Ok, OK, so I know we aren’t supposed to even mention the S word until the 1st September but look at this floral fabulousness popping up all around! I took all these photos here on my walkies this morning…
and obviously when those first tender buds of spring start to burst forth into colourful pretty profusion a woman’s thoughts turn inexorably to… her wardrobe. Well, naturally! To be honest it doesn’t take much of a push for my thoughts to turn to my wardrobe.
The weather is still a tad cold for flinging off those drab winter-y layers, but I’m getting pretty excited about what to incorporate into my wardrobe for the warmer weather that is creeping in. I’m thinking my new spring and summer wardrobe will inspired by the colours of an Aussie spring environment, like pictured here. Thus, a dose of sage greens, ivories and beiges (surprise!), some light dresses in muddy neutrals (surprise!) and I have a few sharp bright colours to throw into the mix as well. A lot of my plans have been virtuously conceived from doing a thorough recce* of my stash, but I’m not going to completely close my mind to the possibilities of new fabrics and patterns and let’s face it, when have I ever?! However I will attempt to use just some of the lovely fabrics in my collection that have been too intimidating to cut into.
What about you? Are you making sartorial plans for the changing season; whether it be spring, or autumn for the northern hemispheries? And where do you take inspiration for your wardrobe plans?

Such gorgeousness! Yes, that looks like spring, but not MY spring with that exotic flora and fauna. 🙂
Yes, I have been working on my fall sewing. Which is not to say that a summer item or two might sneak into my plans – we usually have a last blast of summer in Sept/Oct.
My inspiration is more prosaic. The fabric. For me, it's almost always the fabric. 😉
I miss your doggie from your pics. He always makes me smile. And I am not a dog person, but yours has a special quirkiness that I love.
Such beautiful flowers. I have noticed the same thing here, in a more Eastern floral version, but am ignoring it for wardrobe purposes. The forecast is 3*C overnight after all.
I want to sew several more winter things – just in time to sit in the wardrobe for next winter. This is my best trick for having something newish to wear at the start of each season:)
Your colour palette for Spring sounds lovely.
They are gorgeous photos of the native flora and fauna, such a change from the normal old daffodil. Not that I have anything against daffodils but it does go to show that native is beautiful too!
My inspiration for clothing comes from lots of sources. Sometimes it is the fabric, sometimes a style, sometimes by something I see someone wearing but usually it is inspired or constrained depending on how you look at it by my casual outdoor lifestyle.
Your photographs are gorgeous!
You may be looking forward to spring, but I am certainly NOT looking forward to the cold that will be coming soon enough. I don't even know where my inspiration comes from – probably from many sources. I do make note of clothing details from movies (there's an overflowing drawer of ideas in my brain, since I really can't draw to save my life), then there are books and magazines and blogs and … Too many ideas, not enough time, and though I attempt to make plans for the season ahead, inevitably I end up working one project at a time, or perhaps two or three.
Love the pic of the bees doing their jobs!
I look forward to the fall/autumn in Canada since I love wearing darker colours. None of my sewing is reflecting the anticipated cold though as I have a linen dress and a skirt on the go.
Doesn't work so well that I love to sew for the summer and dress for autumn…
Not exactly looking forward towards Autumn but only because winter is not far after that. However, I am working on the fall wardrobe. Mine will be browns with light, clear orange accents. Like shams, my inspiration comes from my fabrics. I realized I'd collected several in the clear orange.
Lovely! Spring is always a source of inspiration for a new wardrobe full of color, so with your talent, soon we'll be seeing beautiful clothes here …
Carolyn, sometimes I hesitate to check your new posts because I know I will linger long than I should and I can't stay on the computer all day or nothing will get done.
Darn you woman!
Your photographs are such a pleasure. Beautiful work!
What interesting flowers. The first one reminds me of our mimosa tree blossoms, but I don't believe I've seen anything like them before.
Such pretty signs of spring all around where you take your walks. You'll have to get a shot of the swan's babies when they arrive! I can't wait to see what you come up with to add to your spring wardrobe.
