Self-stitched September, Day 16
The weather has turned blustery again here; overcast skies and buckets of rain this morning. π Sienna and I got utterly drenched on our walkies this morning. Mm mmm, eau de wet dog, one of my favourites (not).
This pink lace dress (a better view here) always makes me feel so “spring-y”. I like how it turned out so much I would like to make another one some time…in a different coloured lace maybe? This one is holding up well, but the lace is really delicate… pussycats wanting to sit on my lap and “knead” are rejected; and fast!
And I am thrilled with my grey coat. It was fortuitous that I didn’t have enough fabric for the conventional coat that I first wanted, because now I am so pleased with the “different” look of this view, thanks to the less traditional collar and sleeves. People are gratifyingly surprised when I confess that I made it… Looking back at my review from last year, I can see I wrote something about making up another version soon, but I haven’t yet. I would like to, but in our climate there’s only so many coats one has a need for during the season.
I’m wearing make-up today…!
I’m only mentioning this because it is pretty rare. I totally suck at putting makeup on. Really. I look at myself and am convinced I look like a clown, and then try to take most of it back off. But I must look different, because friends will look at me and say “can’t put my finger on it, but you look different today…” Lol!
But, why am I all spiffied up with lace dresses and makeup on an’ all?
Because I had a very decadent interlude planned for the middle of the day; a fun lunch out with friends! Is there a nicer way to spend a few hours? I struggle to think of anything… I have had such an enjoyable day!

I love that coatβ very cute, especially the sleeve details.
I too love the coat, the dress looks very pretty too. And another great photo.
It's a beautiful outfit to meet the blustery weather in! I try to force myself to wear make-up when I go to work, but it's not something I feel very adept at either π
Gorgeous! I adore the look of a 3/4 length sleeve coat, but how practical are they? Surely if it's cold enough for a coat, you want full sleeves? I spent sooo much money a couple of years ago on this stupid suede See by Chloe jacket that has short sleeves. Gorgeous in theory, but I never wear it. Ever.
Are you more ranga lately? It's divine.
Hehehe there is nothing I love more than a kneading pussycat on my lap. Although they are terrible for your clothes and tights. Luckily I have no self respect and as soon as I enter my house I put on my trackies/pjs so it's not an issue for me!
I love the lace! The coat looks good though, my eyes just don't concentrate on any coats as weather in the place where i leave does not require me to wear coat at anytime of the year, it is too hot here in chennai, even when it rains, you will sweat with humidity!
The coat is great ;O). I hopped over on the link to look at your dress. WOW gorgeous!
Love the coat, you should make it again. And you look good with your hair up, with that pink lace dress it makes me think of a lovely Edwardian era lady.
This is a geourgeous outfit. Both coat and dress are lovely! This suits you to the T.
oooh, I must must must make a chiffon or lace or something sheer overlayer top or dress or something!! You look so lovely. I like your hair like this too.
I only wear makeup on Sundays, but just foundation / powder and lip gloss, to even out my imperfections. Occasionally mascara, but usually when I think of it i haven't used it for months and months and I get worried what might be growing in it, so I don't. In fact, I don't think I have any right now.
I have painted my toenails a couple of times in the last month – probably more than the previous five years combined!
I love the pink dress. Those three patterns are very versatile looking patterns. I am not sure what you made the coat out of, but it would also look really nice in a short linen version.
I wear foundation almost daily but usually only with eye liner. I find our sun is so harsh that I wear it for protection from the dreaded skin cancer that is a huge issue in NZ. When I am not wearing foundation I use tinted moisturizer with SPF.
What a lovely outfit, very elegant and feminine and I love pink and grey together.
You look beautiful in this picture! The clothes are lovely and are really enhanced by your makeup. Nice job.
It's *almost* warm enough for bare legs here today, but sadly I had to don my tights again. Happy Saturday! xoxo
I'm enamored with your coat. The quality and the color are just perfect. I've been eyeing this pattern to get my feet wet into (rain) coat making. However, I'm looking into how to add a hood to it since there aren't many coat patterns with hoods, unfortunately.
