The Daughter of Woman

I am paying homage to “The Son of Man” the 1964 painting by Rene Magritte.
Today’s mini-challenge within the me-made May group is to be pictured with food, or to be eating or drinking something.  So I took inspiration from that famous work of art, hehe.
Incidentally, this is also my morning tea.
The artist later ate her subject.

The Son of Man, Rene Magritte, 1964

Picture taken around 9.30am;  Temperature at the time 20C.
Overnight low: 16C; Today’s high: 23C

It is very humid and the promised rain eventuated… we are getting plenty of it today!
And going by the forecast we are in for a lot more.  You may be interested to know that in Perth rain is a very very welcome occurrence, we really do not get enough.  Makes for a lovely lifestyle I agree, but the farmers will be happy today!

  1. I love your inspiration for the photo! So quirky. You've worn some really nice outfits so far. Keep it up as you inspire me to continue in my attempt to have a wardrobe full of handmade garments. And I love that your kids are wearing me-made garments as well.

PS. I hope the artist enjoyed her morning tea ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. I love the perspective of your photo! It instantly made me think of how I would study things like the moon at the distance and play games like covering the size of the moon with a much smaller coin.

  3. Oh, boy! Iยดm so helpless! Where do I get to know about the mini-challenges??? The pic is so original. Some rain at last, I see!
And I like so much your rendition of that Vogue, that I ordered the same pattern just the other day. Talk about coveting : D

  4. Ooh, nice one! I think the photo of Sam and Sienna too. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. That's one of my favorite paintings, and it matches your outfit too!

  6. clever! and I need to get that pattern.

  7. I'm really enjoying seeing your daily outfits. The info on the weather is great. Really puts things into perspective.

  8. Fun! I am on my 3rd coffee (yes, I am a slug today) and wondering if I should take a pic of myself in my memade pjs, no makeup and hair every which way.

    Nope.

I love the outfit-this is one of my fave ways to dress-easy skirt or pants and a loose tee.

  9. oh blissful rain. … ours seems to have stopped. I wonder if we will get anymore this spring? I'm afraid we might not. The wet early spring was lovely but now my grass is dying again …

  10. Very clever!

BTW, I love the idea to include the temperature/weather details, especially with this totally worldwide challenge. I did that on my flickr pic today, but will try to remember to add it to the ol' blog post, too.

  11. Great use of food! I would like to know where you find out about mini challenges as well.

I really like your combination today, it really is a great pattern.

  12. It's such a treat seeing your pics, Carolyn. You stage your creations so wonderfully. I never thought of linen when looking at this pattern, and here you are rocking it.
