an Easter Egg tree

So, my offspring might be past the age where seasonal kindergarten crafts hold much allure anymore.  Nonetheless I occasionally indulge in silly decorative flights of fancy.
Upon first sight Sam straight away asked if he could have one now.
(thinks) hmf.  Do you not appreciate the artistry and awesome cute-ness of zis masterpiece?  Does it always have to be a case of Must Devour Now?
I snapped, no!  It has to look pretty for at least a few days more.
Losing interest, Sam slunk away.
To return for the harvest in a few days, no doubt.
PLEASE NOTE: if you have small children around then pins are NOT a good idea!  Maybe a hot glue gun would do the same job  馃檪

  1. I don't blame Sam! Your beautiful arrangement is making me salivate. It's a super good idea, and very calming to look at for someone who doesn't like chocolate!

  2. I'd like this in my house right now! Thank goodness I'm still breastfeeding this Eastertime! I got to eat HEAPS last year being pregz, and now I'm still going, I can eat HEAPS again! xoxo Chocolate & Hot Cross Buns! YAY

  3. Im sure Sam will sneak an egg when you're not looking!! Hehe
Does look fab … might have to do something similar but 14 month old may conquer and destroy…… 馃槈

    1. Thank you Jacinta! but since there are pins involved I would not let a 14 month anywhere near this! Maybe a dab of the hot glue gun to attach the string to the foil would work instead?

  4. At first, I didn't realize you had hung chocolate eggs, and I was a bit confused as to why your son would want an eggshell!
    Makes sense now. Lovely arrangement!

  5. This is like hanging out bones on a shrub, and telling your dog they have to wait a few days before they can have one. Good luck Carolyn – hope your Easter tree is still bearing fruit by Easter!

  6. I love it! And the best is that you can actually eat the decoration afterwards, and don't have to store it in a box until next year… 馃檪

  7. cute. Our girls still love an easter egg hunt but complain we hide them in too difficult places =bonus for me when I find one months later . I remember making a lolly tree in primary school too.

  8. That is so pretty. In my house, decorating is known as "having a proper sense of occasion" as there always seems to be a (male) question about why I bother ;). Good work on repulsing the starving horde (I am sure one teenager = a starving horde when it comes to Easter eggs). Unfortunately this week, after the big grocery shop, I somehow managed to leave 2 bags of Cadbury hunting eggs in the boot of the car, and it was 36 degrees yesterday………Maybe squashed ones would look artistic on a tree?

  9. So smart! Love chocolate … I might be placing an egg on the tree and another egg in my mouth … respectively, hehe. Happy Easter!

  10. Very cute! I save most of the seasonal decorations the kids make. My mom has done the same. Every Easter/Christmas she decorates my parents' house with handmade crafty stuff, made by my sisters and I through the years. She especially loves The Angel with Fangs – A blue marker on white paper angel, made by me when I was in kindergarten (3 y.o.). Last year the angel was laminated, so it wouldn't fall apart. I'm 32 (!!) 馃檪
